Cast
David Walton portrayed Will Freeman, a successful songwriter and bachelor whose hit song granted him a life of free time, free love, and freedom from financial worries; he is single, unemployed, and content until Fiona and Marcus move in next door. Benjamin Stockham played Marcus Bowa, an 11-year-old only child raised solely by his mother, who is not popular at school and often teased, but finds a new best friend in Will. Al Madrigal portrayed Andy, Will's best friend and a father of four with wife Laurie, who considers raising a child the greatest honor and was once a DJ. Annie Mumolo played Laurie (season 2, recurring in season 1), Andy's wife and mother of their four children, who tends not to get along with Will. Adrianne Palicki played Dr. Samantha Lake, Will's love interest across both seasons. Chris Diamantopoulos portrayed Mr. Chris, Marcus's teacher. Izabela Vidovic played Shea Garcia-Miller, Marcus's friend and love interest in season 2, loosely based on the character Ellie from the book and film.
