Characters

Eugenia P. Kisskillya, voiced by Kathleen Freeman, is the gym teacher and detention warden of Benedict Arnold Middle School. A former United States Marine Corps sergeant, she bosses the children around with military terminology, often pronouncing "detention" as "dee-tennnn-shun!!" Despite her tyrannical demeanor, she has a soft spot for the children. The character is based on the creator's grade schoolteacher, a nun, as well as Freeman's character Sister Mary Stigmata from The Blues Brothers and Blues Brothers 2000.

Shareena Wickett, voiced by Tara Charendoff, is a gothic 12-year-old who enjoys horror fiction and séances, though her parents do not take her beliefs seriously. She owns a pet pig named Pig, initially thought to be male but revealed as female in "The Blame Game."

Shelley Kelly, voiced by Pamelyn Ferdin, is an optimistic girl who always wears her Ladybug Scout uniform. She is the only child in detention not for rule-breaking but because she is a teacher's pet to Miss Kisskillya, who calls her "Private Kelly." Shelley has a crush on Emmitt and is often disliked by the other kids for her cheerful attitude, though she sometimes allies with them.

Emmitt Roswell, voiced by Billy West, is a conspiracy theorist and ufologist who believes in extraterrestrial life and seeks to contact aliens. His father may share his obsession, as suggested in "Boyz 'N the Parenthood."

Jim Kim, voiced by series writer Roger Eschbacher, is a shy, geeky Korean-American boy who loves DC Comics and sometimes adopts the attributes of comic book heroes at inopportune moments.
