Premise

A fish named Splash, sometimes called a yellowtail fusilier but actually a yellowback fusilier, makes his home in Reeftown after a long ocean search. There he meets Bubbles, a mandarin dragonet. Together with friends Dunk and Ripple, they explore the reef and meet new creatures. Each episode features a documentary segment called Get Your Feet Wet, where children ask questions, often followed by a song.

Characters

Splash, a yellowback fusilier with a love for exploration, is the main character of the series. After searching the ocean for a new place to live, he makes his home in Reeftown. John Tartaglia provides his voice. Splash’s closest companion is Bubbles, a mandarin dragonet who is a bit of a tomboy and enjoys getting dirty. Leslie Carrara-Rudolph voices her. The group’s comic relief comes from Dunk, a dog-faced pufferfish who is both highly intellectual and extremely anxious. He creates art using sand, and Raymond Carr voices him. Ripple, a pink Barbour’s seahorse voiced by Aymee Garcia, shares her home with 499 brothers and has a passion for adventure and new experiences. Lu, a footballfish from the deep ocean abyss, is full of energy; Donna Kimball voices her. Her husband, Bob, is also a male footballfish, voiced by Allan Trautman. Lu’s friend Biggie, a spookfish, is voiced by Sarah Oh. Zee, an adventurous zebra bullhead shark, is voiced by Donna Kimball. Reeftown’s mayor is an overconfident bluespotted ribbontail ray named Mayor Sting, voiced by Raymond Carr. Wave, a day octopus, works as the town’s traffic guard, with Dan Garza providing his voice. Tidy, a garibaldi with a compulsion for cleanliness, serves as a kelp forest ranger; John Tartaglia voices him. Gush, an intelligent painted frogfish voiced by Allan Trautman, is skilled in dancing, sharing helpful tips, and racing. Flo, a hawksbill sea turtle voiced by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, is Reeftown’s medical professional and sings like Karen Carpenter. Chompy, a pastel-colored parrotfish voiced by Aymee Garcia, tends to eat anything she sees. Polly and Bell are peach-colored twin white-spotted jellyfish, voiced by Alice Dinnean and Donna Kimball. Their twin sisters, also white-spotted jellyfish, are voiced by Dorien Davies and Alice Dinnean. Charlie, nicknamed Papa and voiced by Dan Garza, is a brownish gold Barbour’s seahorse who lives with Ripple and her 499 brothers. Those brothers are all green Barbour’s seahorses, voiced by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, Sarah Oh, Raymond Carr, and Donna Kimball. Maury, a snowflake moray voiced by John Tartaglia, is a gossip who lives in Reeftown’s caves and tunnels and is always eager to learn what’s happening on the reef. Snap, a pistol shrimp voiced by Dan Garza, has poor eyesight, dislikes moving, and sometimes attacks with his big claw if he thinks someone says “Now!”
