Critical reception

The Wall has received mixed reviews. Jan Chaney of Vulture called it "the most stereotypically American game show on television right now" and "absurd yet undeniably diverting," criticizing its attempts to present old ideas as new. Bethonie Butler of the Chicago Tribune noted the similarity to Plinko but remarked that originality is relative in game shows, comparing it to shows like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?
