Episodes
Rob Lake discovers that his superior, Roger Hurley, is an incompetent surgeon whose errors harm patients, yet Hurley is shielded by the principle 'Doctors look after doctors'. Lake's own involvement in a patient's death is covered up, but the incident haunts him. Pressure and blackmail force Lake into silence. He seeks a post at another hospital, but Hurley sabotages the move by revealing Lake's mistakes. Hurley is promoted to clinical director. Lake, trapped, confesses to the relatives of the patient whose death he caused, ending the series on a cliffhanger.
