Plot
Golan the Insatiable is a demigod warlord who ruled the dimension of Gkruool before being summoned to Earth by Dylan, a goth girl in Oak Grove, Minnesota. Characters
Golan the Insatiable is a demonic figure from the planet Gkruool, known as the Godlord terrible, crusher of wills, and defiler of all. In the original shorts, rebels from his home world banished him, and he ended up living with a girl named Dylan Beekler. In the later 30-minute version, Dylan accidentally brought him to Earth after finding the legendary Gkruoolian Tome of Infinite Evil. Golan stayed with her after discovering that a rival named Kruung had taken over his throne while he was gone. The two of them take pleasure in making life miserable for everyone in their town. During the first season, Golan starts to get used to how things work on Earth. In the second season, he and Dylan make plans to conquer Oak Grove and then the whole state of Minnesota. Dylan Beekler, voiced by Mary Mack in the first season and Aubrey Plaza in the second, is a goth teenager who becomes Golan’s follower. She used to get suspended from school a lot. Her mother is Carole Beekler, and she has an older sister named Alexis Beekler. Later on, it turns out that Alexis is actually Dylan’s real mother, and Carole lied about it to protect everyone from emotional pain. Even though Dylan hates most people in the episode Winter is Staying, she still liked being her mom’s favorite and enjoyed time with her. In Deer Uncle Gerald, she couldn’t go through with stealing her Great Uncle Gerald’s ashes for one of Golan’s plans, so she let the ashes float away in a river instead. Carole Beekler, voiced by Maria Bamford, is a single mother to Dylan and Alexis in the second season. She was very scared of Golan at first but eventually got used to him. She doesn’t really approve of Dylan’s goth style, but she still loves her, though she spends a lot of time with Alexis. According to Alexis, Carole’s favorite child is Alexis. Richard Beekler, voiced by Matt Silverstein, is Carole’s husband and the father of the Beekler kids. He doesn’t see Golan as part of the family the way the others do. Richard does not appear in the reboot. Carole says Dylan doesn’t have a father, which hints that Richard left. Alexis claims that Richard died from something called Robot AIDS.
