Plot
In a world of anthropomorphic animals, awkward teen Chad, his younger brother Jay, and best friend Chris spend their final adolescent years wandering the bleak, surreal town of Holford. The cast also includes Chad’s parents Wayne and Rose, Chris’s single mother Joanie and her terrible boyfriend Terry, and Sharla, the girl Chad has a crush on.
Reception
The show received mixed reviews. Robert Lloyd of the Los Angeles Times gave a positive review, comparing the animation favorably to Bob's Burgers and noting a gentler, more delicate groove. Mixed reviews included the Boston Globe's Matthew Gilbert calling it just fine, with refreshing sincerity but old-hat characters and stories. PopMatters stated it is often funny but could be funnier with more coherent storytelling. Slant Magazine declared it presents by-the-numbers boyhood scenarios with a stale, been-there-done-that vibe.
