When a brilliant brain-science researcher named Oh Laura is torn away from her young son, the grief reshapes the rest of her life. Over the following decades she channels her expertise into building successive generations of artificial-intelligence androids—Nam Shin I, II, and III—each modelled on the child she lost. The story's central conflict ignites when the grown-up Nam Shin, now the designated heir to the massive PK Group conglomerate, barely survives an attempt on his life and slips into a coma. Rather than let the succession slip to rivals, Laura deploys the most advanced android, Nam Shin III, to step into her son's shoes and carry out his corporate duties. Enter Kang So-bong, a former mixed-martial-arts fighter whose career ended in a competition injury and who was once part of Nam Shin's security team before being dismissed in disgrace. Hired to guard the new heir, she initially works the job for selfish reasons, but her investigation into his odd remarks and mannerisms gradually turns into genuine affection. All the while, the same forces that tried to kill the real Nam Shin remain hunting, forcing So-bong to shield the android from threats she never anticipated.

An Ensemble Built Around One Name

The series is anchored by Seo Kang-joon, who carries the dual role of the comatose heir and his android replacement, Nam Shin III. The younger iterations are played by Lee Joo-chan (teenage Nam Shin / Nam Shin II) and Oh Han-kyul (child Nam Shin / Nam Shin I), giving the character a visual lineage across three decades. Gong Seung-yeon brings physicality and emotional depth to Kang So-bong, the ex-MMA fighter turned bodyguard whose protective instincts evolve into real love. Rounding out the core ensemble, Lee Joon-hyuk plays Ji Young-hoon, the pragmatic secretary whose own history is woven into PK Group—he grew up in an orphanage the conglomerate funded and later excelled at a university it backed.
