History
In March 2018, Spacestation Gaming launched new teams for Rainbow Six and Rocket League. Later that April, they formed a strategic alliance with the NBA’s Utah Jazz, aiming to grow both Utah-based organizations. That same month, SSG entered Battlerite by signing players Averse, Bloom, and Proster, and this squad went on to win the Battlerite Pro League at Dreamhack. June saw SSG partner with Uber Eats, marking the company’s first move into esports. In September, they teamed up with chair maker Vertagear to sell a custom SSG-branded gaming chair.
Moving into 2019, SSG joined the Paladins Premier League and unveiled a full Rainbow Six roster and creator team. Shortly after, that Rainbow Six squad finished in the top ten at the Six Invitational 2019. SSG also announced its first Apex Legends team, which competed at the X-Games. In March, they revealed a PUBG Mobile team, followed by an updated Rocket League roster for 2019. That Rocket League team made it to the Season 8 World Championship, and player Sypical earned the Regular Season MVP award for RLCS Season 8. In April, SSG announced a brand partnership with Champion, with merchandise sold in Foot Locker stores across the U.S.; this later expanded into a full partnership with more items. August brought SSG’s first Brawl Stars roster, with additional teams in Brazil and Southeast Asia announced in the months after. In October, SSG partnered with mobile creators Powerbang and Clash With Ash to develop new business ventures and connections in the mobile community. On October 15, SSG left the PUBG esports scene, citing poor communication, inadequate feedback, and insufficient support from the league. November saw SSG enter Smash Bros Ultimate by signing LeoN, and in early December, they added their first Trackmania racer, Matt, for the Trackmania Grand League. On December 15, the SSG Rainbow Six: Siege team won the US National Championship, earning the Team USA title. Meanwhile, the SSG Rocket League team finished third at the RLCS World Championship in Madrid.
