Multi-regional esports organization based in Utah.

Last updated

Spacestation Gaming (SSG) is a professional esports organization based in Utah, founded and owned by social media influencer Shaun "Shonduras" McBride. The organization fields teams across eight different leagues and is also involved in esports content creation. SSG won the Rainbow Six Siege world championship in 2021.

2018

SSG entered competitive gaming in March 2018 with new Rainbow Six and Rocket League rosters. That April, the organization formed a strategic partnership with the NBA's Utah Jazz, aiming to collaborate and grow together as two Utah-based entities.

Later that month, SSG joined the Battlerite scene, signing players Averse, Bloom, and Proster; this team won the Battlerite Pro League at Dreamhack. In June, SSG announced a partnership with Uber Eats, marking the company's first foray into esports. September saw a partnership with gaming chair provider Vertagear to produce a custom SSG-branded chair.

In 2019, SSG entered the Paladins Premier League and debuted a content creator team for Rainbow Six, while its competitive Rainbow Six roster had already been established in 2018. That competitive roster placed in the top ten at the Six Invitational 2019. SSG also announced its first Apex Legends team, which competed at the X-Games.

2019

A PUBG Mobile team was announced in March, followed by an updated Rocket League roster that competed in the Rocket League Season 8 World Championship; player Sypical was named Regular Season MVP for that season. In April, SSG partnered with Champion, releasing merchandise in Foot Locker stores across the United States, a relationship that later expanded into a full partnership. In August, SSG announced its first Brawl Stars roster, with additional rosters in Brazil and Southeast Asia following in later months. October brought partnerships with mobile creators Powerbang and Clash With Ash, aimed at developing new business ventures within the mobile community.

On October 15, SSG exited the PUBG esports scene, citing poor communication, inadequate feedback, and insufficient support from the league. In November, SSG entered Smash Bros Ultimate by signing LeoN, and in early December, its first Trackmania racer, Matt, joined for the new Trackmania Grand League. On December 15, the Rainbow Six team won the US National Championship, earning the title Team USA.
