Gameplay
Qix++ is an action puzzle video game similar to its predecessors. The objective of each level is to use a triangle-shaped marker to claim the majority of the playfield by drawing lines across the screen. When lines connect to the boundary or to pre-existing boxes, they create a box indicating claimed space. The top of the screen shows the percentage of space needed to progress. The player must avoid the Qix, a creature in various geometric shapes that kills with one touch and can destroy lines being drawn. The player also avoids Sparx, deadly balls of lightning that follow the player's lines and can be defeated by trapping them in boxes. Qix++ adds black-colored boxes that award a power-up item when encased. Power-ups include abilities that shrink and slow the Qix or increase cursor movement speed. A multiplayer mode allows four players to battle to be the last standing. The Japan-exclusive PlayStation Portable version includes Float Mode, Hunt Mode, and One-Stroke Mode, plus a port of the original Qix arcade game.
