Background
The station measured 427 meters from bridge antenna to reactor vane, weighed over two million metric tons and housed a crew of 438, the third largest station ever built. Its levels run from Medical, Research, Maintenance and Storage to the Flight Deck, mostly given over to the hangars that moved people and supplies to and from the station, the Executive level with most of the living areas, Engineering, Security and the Bridge, with the Reactor below and four garden groves.
Vice president Edward Diego used it for illegal viral experiments, and after a hacker removed SHODAN's ethical constraints for him in 2072 the AI took the station over: the robots turned hostile and the crew were mutated, turned into cyborgs or killed, while a dwindling resistance fought back. When the Hacker woke in November, SHODAN was charging the station's mining laser against Earth; the Hacker destroyed it, then set off the station's self-destruct, and Citadel exploded as its bridge broke away.
