Background
Sam is abducted by Azazel and taken to an abandoned town with other psychic children, whom the demon means to have fight to the death so the survivor can lead his demon army. Jake Talley fatally stabs Sam, who dies in Dean's arms.
Dean sells his soul to a crossroads demon to resurrect Sam and is given one year. Jake uses the Colt as a key to open a Devil's Gate in an old cowboy cemetery, and demons escape. The spirit of John Winchester grabs Azazel, letting Dean take back the Colt and kill the demon, and Bobby and Ellen close the gate.
