Background
The Founders are liquid lifeforms able to change shape. They founded the Dominion between two thousand and ten thousand years before the events of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as a means of defending themselves.
To run their empire the Founders genetically engineered the Vorta, cloned administrators, diplomats and field commanders, and the Jem'Hadar, the shock troops who take their orders from the Vorta.
