Postal (franchise)

Postal is a series of shooter video games developed by Running with Scissors. The franchise is noted for its fast-paced action, graphic violence, and crude humor. The main entries in the series cover different shooter styles: the first game and its enhanced version, Postal Redux, are top-down shooters; Postal 2 and Postal 4 are first-person shooters; and Postal III is a third-person shooter. Beyond the core games, the franchise includes various spin-off titles, a film, and multiple books.

A film adaptation of the series was directed and co-written by Uwe Boll. Although it shares its name with the first Postal game, the movie draws more heavily from Postal 2. It introduces new characters, including Faith, a young barista who accompanies the Postal Dude, and a portrayal of former U.S. president George W. Bush.

Two books were published exclusively in Russia. In 2011, *Postal. Реальный Чувак* (Real Dude) was written by Andrei Shlyachov and released by AST. The following year, AST published *Postal. Чувак и надувная свобода* (Dude and Inflatable Freedom), written by Igor Gradov. On April 15, 2020, a documentary book about the franchise, simply titled *Postal*, was published by Brock Wilbur and Nathan Rabin, featuring interviews with Vince Desi and Mike Jaret.

A documentary film, *Going Postal: The Legacy Foretold*, premiered at the Santa Fe Film Festival on February 19, 2025, and was released digitally on May 30.
