The Faithful
The 49er Faithful: Faithful To The Bay.
San Francisco 49ers fans are often called the 49er Faithful or the Niner Gang, or use the acronym FTTB, short for Faithful To The Bay.
Lore & Background
The fan base followed the team from Kezar Stadium to Candlestick Park in 1971 and to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara in 2014. Many fans were angry at the idea of moving the team out of the city it had shared its history with for decades.
Reader's Guide
The team kept the San Francisco name after moving to Santa Clara.
At Levi's Stadium, long-time fans complained of a corporate atmosphere and ticket prices that were the highest in the league in its first season, which priced some season-ticket holders out, and older fans said tailgating felt more scattered than at Candlestick Park.
