The Chicago Typewriter is an unlockable weapon in Resident Evil 4. It must be unlocked before it can be used: in the GameCube version it becomes available for 1,000,000 pesetas after beating Assignment: Ada, while on the other versions beating Separate Ways unlocks it for the main story at the same price and beating Assignment Ada unlocks it for Separate Ways for 300,000. It cannot be upgraded, has a firepower of 10.0 and a firing speed of 0.10 seconds, has infinite ammo and never needs reloading, and takes up 21 inventory spaces; a typical Ganado dies to one or two shots and most bosses fall to it within seconds. Leon fires it from the shoulder and Ada Wong from the hip, and when Leon wears his mobster suit the gun switches to an ammo-drum variant with special reload animations in which he straightens or tosses his hat.
