History

The Dallas–Fort Worth area got its own professional women's soccer team in May 2023, the same month the USL Super League was launched. The club secured private backing along with $592,000 from the city to play at the Cotton Bowl, which holds more fans than any other stadium in the league. That deal ran for two years, with an option to extend. Chris Petrucelli became the first general manager, and the team was set to kick off when the league started on August 17, 2024.

In June 2024, the club named Pauline MacDonald, who had spent years coaching Scotland’s U-17 side, as its first head coach. Amber Brooks was the first player signed, joining on May 31, 2024. The roster also featured a strong local connection, with players like Hailey Davidson, Haley Berg, Allie Thornton, Gracie Brian, Cyera Hintzen, Enzi Broussard, Chioma Ubogagu, Madison White, Samantha Meza, Jenna Winebrenner, and Sam Estrada either hailing from the DFW area or having played college soccer there.

Dallas played its first match on August 18, 2024, against Tampa Bay Sun FC. Because MacDonald was delayed by work visa issues, Petrucelli served as interim head coach. Hannah Davison put Dallas ahead with a goal in first-half stoppage time, the first in club history, but Tampa Bay pulled even in the second half, and the game ended in a draw. On June 30, 2026, USL Championship expansion side Atlético Dallas announced it had purchased the Trinity. Once Atlético begins play in the 2027 season, both teams will share the Cotton Bowl.

Identity

The name and branding for the team was announced on May 9, 2024, with elements inspired by the Trinity River. The club's colors are sunrise maroon, prairie gold, and live oak green, drawing inspiration from the city skyline and the Trinity River. The crest features a Pegasus, and the mascot is a palomino horse named Boots, whose entrance theme is "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" by Nancy Sinatra.
