God's Throne
The seat God left empty, and the place where the Saint of Killers finally rests.
God's throne is the seat of God in Heaven in Preacher. God abdicates it and leaves Heaven when Genesis is born, which sets Jesse Custer on his quest to find Him. The Saint of Killers is described as answering only to "He Who Sits On The Throne".
Lore & Background
At the end of the comics God returns to Heaven to take the throne back and finds the Saint of Killers waiting. God offers to restore the Saint's family if He is allowed to sit on it once more. The Saint shoots Him instead, sits down on the throne, pulls his hat over his eyes and goes to sleep.
Reader's Guide
In the AMC television series Jesse refuses to sit on God's throne even while he is tortured in Hell. In the finale the Saint kills God and sits down on the throne, able to rest at last.
