Background

Kyle Higgins wrote most of it through the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic, with Ryan Parrott writing a tie-in in Saban's Go Go Power Rangers. Boom! announced it in December 2017 as a crossover featuring teams from all eras.

In an alternate universe, Tommy Oliver refused to join the Power Rangers and stayed loyal to Rita Repulsa, taking the name Lord Drakkon. Together they conquered Earth and killed Zordon, Jason Scott and Billy Cranston. Drakkon stole the Power Coins, fused the White Ranger coin with his Green Ranger powers, then killed Rita and turned a brainwashed Kimberly Hart into the Ranger Slayer. Zack Taylor and Trini Kwan led a resistance called the Coinless.

A promotional short film in March 2018, Shattered Grid - Dark Prelude, starred Jason David Frank as Lord Drakkon.
