Power Rangers Megaforce is a television series and the twentieth entry of the Power Rangers franchise. The season was produced primarily using footage, costumes, and props from the Japanese 36th Super Sentai series Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. The show was produced by Saban Brands and premiered on Nickelodeon on February 2, 2013. The second season of Megaforce and twenty-first Power Rangers season overall, Power Rangers Super Megaforce, premiered on February 15, 2014, ending on November 22, 2014.

As the twentieth anniversary season of the franchise, Super Megaforce featured the Legendary Battle, uniting Rangers from past seasons. Megaforce was the first season to have toys manufactured and distributed by Bandai under the new Saban Brands era, and Super Megaforce was the last season to feature the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers cast before the franchise shifted focus. The series features the return of original Red Ranger Austin St. John as Jason Lee Scott.

Lore & Background

The story begins when the Warstar alien fleet, led by Admiral Malkor and later Prince Vekar, attacks Earth. The guardian spirit Gosei, a disciple of the original Power Rangers' mentor Zordon, awakens five teenagers—Troy Burrows, Noah Carver, Jake Holling, Gia Moran, and Emma Goodall—to become the Megaforce Rangers. They are aided by the robotic warrior Robo Knight and later gain the ability to access Super Megaforce powers, allowing them to morph into legendary Ranger forms from past seasons. The season culminates in the Legendary Battle, where the Megaforce Rangers unite with all previous Power Rangers to defeat the Armada and save the universe.
