In Their Own Story

The rain had stopped, but the jungle still dripped. Jack crouched at the edge of the clearing, his red morpher warm against his palm. Three Putridus brutes lumbered through the undergrowth, their acid-slicked hides hissing where they touched the moss. He didn't need to think. He never did, not when the tiger was already pacing behind his ribs.

He slammed his fist into the morpher. The air split with a golden crack, and the Tiger Zord rose from the earth in a column of amber light, shaking rain from its massive shoulders. Its eyes locked onto the brutes—two burning coals in the grey dusk. It let out a roar that flattened the surrounding ferns, and the brutes skidded to a halt, acid dripping from their jaws.

Jack's voice came from everywhere and nowhere, steady and low: "Show them what the jungle remembers."

The Tiger Zord lunged. The first brute was swiped clear before it could raise its arms. The second took a backhand that cracked its chassis down the middle.
