Background

Bulk was the leader of the pair and looked like a heavyset teenage punk; Skull was lean, dressed more formally and usually copied Bulk or agreed with him.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers pilots

In the show's pilot, a gang of punk bullies included an unnamed character played by Paul Schrier. The gang's leader, Bulk, was a stereotypical bully who hit on Kimberly and was rejected. The gang line-danced at a bowling alley with the five future Rangers, and each member was defeated in a slapstick manner; Schrier's character slid into bowling pins after being kicked by Jason. Jason Narvy did not appear.

Schrier got the role by arriving ten minutes earlier than other auditioning actors. In a second pilot shown at Power Morphicon 2007, Schrier played Bulk, now the gang's leader, with Narvy as Skull. Narvy originally auditioned for Billy but was called back for Skull because the actor playing "Punk #1" looked too intimidating for comedy. Narvy auditioned by being intentionally obnoxious, which helped him get the role.

This version of Bulk was more menacing, physically intimidating Kimberly and throwing aside other gang members. The pilot's ending scene was used in the episode "Big Sisters."

Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers

Bulk and Skull were regressed to children by Master Vile's Orb of Doom and acted like first-season bullies. Bulk was briefly turned into the "Brat Boy" monster by Rita and Zedd, battling the Aquitian Rangers before rebelling; Rita and Zedd returned him to normal. When the Zeo Crystal reformed and reversed the time reversal, Bulk and Skull—on playground swings trying to see who could go highest—were the first to return to their normal ages. The swings broke, and they landed next to each other, puzzled about why they were there, and agreed not to tell anyone. Paul Schrier directed several "Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers" episodes, including "Attack of the 60' Bulk," in which he briefly appeared despite his character being a child. Schrier also directed early episodes of "Power Rangers: Turbo" while his character Bulk was a chimp.
