Treehouse of Horror XXXV

Treehouse of Horror XXXV is the fifth episode of The Simpsons' thirty-sixth season, the 773rd episode overall, and the 35th installment in the annual Halloween anthology series. It aired on Fox in the United States on November 3, 2024. Like previous specials, it contains three self-contained Halloween stories, each written by a different writer: Matt Selman, Dan Vebber, and Rob LaZebnik. Timothy Bailey directed the entire episode.

The series centers on the dysfunctional Simpson family—Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie—living in Springfield. The first segment, "The Information Rage," involves kaiju monsters attacking a politically divided Springfield. The second, "The Fall of the House of Monty," follows Mr. Burns being haunted by the hungry ghosts of his dead workers. The third, "Denim," features a sentient pair of jeans that helps Homer win over his crush, Marge.

Before the first segment, a short intro by Jorge R. Gutierrez plays, inspired by his 2014 film *The Book of Life*. Gutierrez, a longtime *Simpsons* fan, was given complete creative freedom for the short. LaZebnik, who usually avoids political humor, was interested in exploring how social media influences people's views for his segment. Vebber drew inspiration from 1950s horror films for his. The final segment, "Denim," was animated by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and came from a concept Selman had pitched years earlier. The episode received generally positive reviews, with "The Fall of the House of Monty" being the most praised segment.

In "The Information Rage," Lisa's advocacy leads to free LED lightbulbs for Springfield. Residents are initially happy, but the conservative half becomes angry upon learning the idea is progressive. Two kaiju monsters rise from the sea, attacking liberal and conservative areas. Professor Frink builds a giant robot, which Bart and Lisa operate but fail to control. As more kaiju representing various political figures appear, the siblings work together to drive them away. They warn the town to embrace common ground, but the kaiju grows stronger and destroys Springfield.

"The Fall of the House of Monty" is set in the Victorian era. Mr. Burns invites his factory workers to Thanksgiving dinner, promising they can eat if anyone beats him in a wishbone pull. Groundskeeper Willie wins, but Burns still refuses to feed them. His housekeeper warns him he will be cursed.
