The Breach
The portal on the Pacific floor that the Kaiju come through.
The Breach is the interdimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean through which the Kaiju reach Earth in Pacific Rim, starting in 2013. When Newton Geiszler drifts with a Kaiju brain, he learns that the Kaiju are bioweapons made by an alien race to help colonize Earth.

Background
Hermann Gottlieb predicts that Kaiju attacks will become more frequent but that the Breach will soon be stable enough for a bomb to pass through, and Stacker Pentecost plans to destroy it with a tactical nuclear weapon. In the final assault Gipsy Danger rides a Kaiju's corpse into the Breach; Raleigh ejects Mako, sets off a meltdown in the Jaeger's reactor and ejects himself before the blast seals the portal. In Pacific Rim Uprising, the hijacked Kaiju-Jaeger hybrids open new breaches across the Pacific Rim, which close when Liwen Shao destroys the drones.
