Lore & Background

Nate Lambert was the co-pilot of Jake Pentecost, and the two are still actively piloting together at the start of the film. By 2035, he was working as an instructor at the China Shatterdome, training Jaeger cadets. When Jake returns to the PPDC, Nate explains that the Jaeger program is threatened by Shao Industries' new drone program. After Mako Mori is killed by the rogue Jaeger Obsidian Fury, Nate and Jake pilot Gipsy Avenger to investigate a defunct Jaeger production facility in Siberia. There, they battle Obsidian Fury, during which Nate is injured, and discover it is controlled by a Kaiju's secondary brain. Later, Nate is replaced by Amara Namani as Jake's co-pilot due to his injury. After the Mega-Kaiju is destroyed, Dr. Newton Geiszler is captured by other PPDC personnel.

Reader's Guide

Nate Lambert originated from the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, serving as a Jaeger pilot and later an instructor. His key battles included the engagement against the rogue Jaeger Obsidian Fury in Siberia, where Gipsy Avenger managed to overpower and destroy the Jaeger's power core. He also fought in the Battle of Tokyo against the Mega-Kaiju, though he was injured and replaced by Amara Namani. Nate's unique ability was his combat experience and tactical knowledge, which he passed on to the new generation of cadets. His relationship with Jake was foundational to the plot, as their estrangement and eventual reconciliation drove much of the story. His role in the narrative was crucial: he helped uncover the Precursors' plan, fought alongside Jake, and ultimately captured the possessed Dr. Newton Geiszler after the Mega-Kaiju's defeat.
