Physical properties: Lava exists as a liquid at approximately 1000 °C, far exceeding the survival threshold of any Duplicant. It is dense and viscous, flowing slowly through channels and pooling in basins. It does not produce any breathable gas and contributes no atmospheric benefit. When its temperature drops below the solidification point, it hardens into Rock, a solid material usable for building, processing, and structural support.
Yields when processed: Cooled lava becomes Rock, which can be mined, used as a building material, or fed into processing machines. As a heat source, lava can be connected to thermal loops and heaters to provide sustained thermal energy to the colony, making it one of the most powerful renewable heat sources available.
Hazards to Duplicants: Contact with lava is instantly lethal. The extreme temperature also raises the ambient heat in surrounding tiles, which can cause Duplicants to overheat even without direct contact.
