Tournament format (Season 1)
The best-performing contestants from season 1, including some who did not win the $100,000 on their original episode, returned for a tournament with a grand prize of $250,000 and the title Mental Samurai. Ranking was based on how many questions a contestant answered correctly in the shortest time. In the tournament final, all finalists faced the same 12 questions in the same order during the Towers of Samurai round, with contestants sequestered until their turn. The top three finishers (by most correct answers, ties broken by fastest time) advanced to the Circle of Samurai final. There, each contestant answered the same four questions in the same order, with only 90 seconds allowed. The contestant with the most correct answers in the shortest time won the $250,000 prize.
