Gameplay

EA Sports FC 27 focuses on competitive play with player-focused defending, fluid movement, and dynamic corner kicks. Gameplay refinements include manual defending, rebalanced PlayStyles that highlight attributes, off-balance dribbling for agile players, smarter CPU decisions, realistic physical contact, better environmental effects, and expanded sliders for match control. Manager Career gets a rebuilt transfer market using TransferRoom's Expected Transfer Value, multi-stage talks, smarter AI clubs, varied deal structures, and a new Transfer Hub. Dynamic Overall Ratings shift based on form, morale, fitness, injuries, and playing time. Ultimate Team adds the FUT Gallery for collecting and displaying items, Holographic Player Items with unique visuals, Gallery Tokens for rewards, streamlined SBCs with a score-based system, and the Hall of FUT, a new card type honoring community favorites like Akinfenwa, Fellaini, Rémy, Elia, and Giovani dos Santos.

Development

EA Sports FC 27 introduces The Grounds, a social football hub available exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and Nintendo Switch 2. The hub is divided into three districts: Montclair (Paris), Zeiza (Buenos Aires), and Parkside (suburban Britain), connected by The Terrace. Players can compete in 5v5 Rush, play minigames like Bucket Ball, complete challenges, unlock rewards, and use temporary boosts called Amps. The mode features the return of Alex Hunter from The Journey as a football mentor, alongside Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, and Paulo Dybala. Ted Lasso and A.F.C. Richmond also return, now including the club's women's team.

On 11 December 2025, European Football Clubs and EA Sports FC announced a multi-year partnership to support clubs through community initiatives and increase their visibility. On 27 August 2026, the Bundesliga extended its partnership with EA Sports FC, reportedly for seven years and worth €250 million. The game features more than 21,000 licensed players, over 800 clubs and national teams, more than 140 stadiums, 35 leagues, and over 300 football partners. On 7 May 2026, the AFC appointed EA Sports FC as an Official Licensed Product of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Newly licensed additions include the return of Liga MX, the Polish Army Stadium, Stade Louis II, Estadio Carlos Tartiere, and reconstructed Emirates Stadium and MHPArena. Lazio returned fully licensed, while Atalanta, Inter Milan, and AC Milan are absent due to license issues. New icons include Christine Sinclair, Ellen White, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Sergio Agüero, and Raphaël Varane. Fernando Torres, Lúcio, and Yaya Touré were elevated from FUT heroes to icons.

Technical improvements

EA Sports and TRACAB introduced Project Assist, an early pilot using real-time match data and the Frostbite engine for dynamic visualisations of live matches, demonstrated during a La Liga broadcast but not available in the game. PC-specific improvements include reduced startup times, new Performance and Balanced graphics presets, automatic Steam Friends integration, a VRAM usage indicator, redesigned keyboard controls, and optional Enhanced Ultra Visuals. Performance optimizations aim to reduce effects of high CPU load.
