Format
Each episode pits two professional chefs against each other to recreate a brand-name snack or fast food item. They have two days to develop their replicas, which are judged by a panel of workers involved in the snack's manufacture. The chef who most faithfully recreates the snack wins. Tom Sainsbury visits the snack's factory during each episode and delivers the food items himself using a modified backpack, never seeing the contestants until the cook-off. In season 2, he delivers items exclusively by motorbike. The episodes are stand-alone, following the original British format.
Reception
Media reaction to the show was mixed. Food writer Emily Brookes, writing for Stuff, praised the chefs' skills but criticised that, due to shooting constraints, all contestants were Auckland-based except for those in episode 3 of season 1, which was based in Wellington and Levin. She expressed a preference for the chefs to be allowed to innovate rather than merely copy. The series was nominated for Best Format Reality Series at the 2022 New Zealand Television Awards but did not win.
