Central Tactical Command Room
NERV Headquarters' command room, from which most battles against the Angels are directed.
The Central Tactical Command Room, also called the Tactical Control room or the Command Center, is the centre of operations of NERV Headquarters, and most of the battles against the Angels are coordinated from it. It is a very tall, very large rectangular room in Central Dogma, dominated by a stepped command tower at the back, a large holographic display in the middle and a big screen at the front.

Background
During battle Gendo Ikari and Kōzō Fuyutsuki stand on the highest platform, beneath the NERV logo. Just below them Misato Katsuragi and Ritsuko Akagi direct the bridge technicians Shigeru Aoba, Makoto Hyuga and Maya Ibuki at their stations. Below the command deck are three analysis centres, each with a red brick-shaped structure that holds part of the Magi system, and two smaller command centres stand on either side near the front. In episode 19 Zeruel destroys the room, and from episode 20 the staff work from an identical backup command centre. Episode 21 shows that it was here that Naoko Akagi strangled the first Rei and then killed herself by jumping onto a Magi block. The set was designed by Ikuto Yamashita and Kio Seiji; Hideaki Anno asked for a spacious room inspired by the deck of a Second World War Japanese aircraft carrier.
