Events
Juventus overcame a nine-point deficit to become the first team promoted to Serie A for 2007–08, securing promotion with a 5–1 away win at SS Arezzo on 19 May 2007, three matches before the end of the season. On the final matchday, Napoli drew 0–0 with Genoa, earning automatic promotion, while Genoa’s win requirement was unmet; however, Piacenza’s 1–1 draw with Triestina left Genoa ten points ahead of fourth place, so no playoffs were held and Genoa became the third promoted team.
Both Napoli and Genoa had risen from Serie C1 to Serie B and then to Serie A in consecutive seasons. Pescara was the first team relegated, losing 3–1 at Piacenza on 12 May 2007. Crotone followed a week later with a 2–0 loss at Trieste. On the last day, Arezzo was relegated despite a 3–1 win at Treviso, as Spezia and Hellas Verona both won; Spezia, trailing 2–2 against Juventus, scored in the 91st minute through Nicola Padoin to avoid relegation and enter the playoff.
The fourth relegation spot was decided in a two-legged playoff: Spezia won the first leg 2–1, and a 0–0 draw in the return match sent Verona to Serie C1.
