Dr. Volescu
A PreservationAux survey scientist rescued by Murderbot in All Systems Red.
Dr. Volescu is a scientist on the PreservationAux survey team, where his job is collecting soil and mineral samples and analysing them. He appears only in All Systems Red and gives up survey work soon afterwards. Later books, including Exit Strategy, Network Effect and Fugitive Telemetry, mention him.
Background
While sampling with Bharadwaj he is caught in an attack by huge local fauna; he is not hurt but is badly shaken, and Murderbot has to talk him through the rescue. Later he examines Murderbot's systems with Gurathin and argues that what they find shows the SecUnit can be trusted. He is in a four-way marriage with seven children back home on Preservation.
