History
The Beloit Brewers debuted in the Midwest League as a new franchise in 1982. For its first 13 years, the club carried the same name as its parent club, the Milwaukee Brewers, which it was affiliated with until 2004. In 1995, the team became the Snappers, a name drawn from local history: Turtle Creek, the town of Turtle, and turtle-shaped burial mounds near Beloit College. After the Brewers affiliation ended, plans emerged for a new ballpark modeled after those in Rockford or Wisconsin Timber Rattlers territory, with one proposal placing it near Janesville and possibly renaming the team for a broader Rock County fan base. That stadium never materialized, so the existing site received upgrades instead, including a full field renovation and concrete concourse repairs. Following the 2012 season, Beloit allocated $100,000 to raise and level the outfield with the infield and install a new sprinkler system. The Snappers later entered a sale process in September 2018 to a group planning a downtown ballpark, but the deal fell through in May 2020 due to uncertainty over the expiring Professional Baseball Agreement. The group, led by Quint Studer, kept operating rights and pushed ahead with stadium plans. Construction on ABC Supply Stadium began June 15, 2020. The Snappers opened the 2021 season at Pohlman Field before moving to the new venue on August 3. That year, the team was placed in the High-A Central. A planned 2021 rebrand was delayed until 2022, when the team became the Beloit Sky Carp, named after a nickname for geese. In July 2022, the Sky Carp introduced mascot Poopsie, a term of endearment. The High-A Central reverted to the Midwest League name in 2022.
