José Miguel Cabrera Torres, "Miggy", born April 18, 1983 in Venezuela, spent 21 MLB seasons with the Florida Marlins and Detroit Tigers, mostly at first and third base. He is ranked among the finest hitters ever.

Florida signed him as an amateur free agent in 1999, at 16. He debuted midway through 2003, aged 20, and helped the Marlins beat the Yankees in that year's World Series, then played every day for four more seasons before a trade to Detroit ahead of 2008. With the Tigers he won the 2012 Triple Crown (.330, 44 home runs, 139 RBIs), the first since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967, and two AL MVP awards. A 12-time All-Star and four-time batting champion, he joined Hank Aaron and Willie Mays as the only players with a .300 career average, 500 homers and 3,000 hits.
