NFL Street

NFL Street is an American football video game from EA Tiburon and Electronic Arts, released under the EA Sports BIG label. It came out for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox on January 13, 2004. The cover features Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders, Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe, and Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams. Two sequels followed: NFL Street 2 and NFL Street 3.

The gameplay is seven-on-seven, modeled after street football and similar to the Blitz series. Players wear street clothes instead of helmets and uniforms, though jerseys are allowed. Basic football rules apply, but there are no fouls, penalties, or injuries, making the action more aggressive than real-life football. A key feature is "style points," earned by performing flashy moves like big plays or taunting. Enough style points trigger a "Gamebreaker," lasting for the whole drive—a concept borrowed from NBA Street. On offense, a Gamebreaker lets the player plow through defenders and score easily; on defense, it makes getting past blockers, causing fumbles, and forcing turnovers easier. An opponent can cancel a Gamebreaker by stopping the score or activating their own Gamebreaker, which cancels both. A defensive Gamebreaker can also be stopped by running out of bounds.

The game has several modes. Quick Game lets the player pick a team and scoring system (touchdowns or style points) for a single match against the computer or a friend. Pickup Game is similar but instead of choosing a team, players draft from a pool of about 40 NFL players, including Legends. Each team gets one redraft ("Re") if the random draft seems unfair; if both teams use their redraft, another is possible if both agree. NFL Challenge is the main mode: the player creates a team—from logo to player heights—and completes challenges against other teams, unlocking stadiums, teams, equipment, and development points. All NFL Pickup is unlocked by beating NFL Challenge; it works like Pickup Game but lets the player select from any player in the game (except cheat code teams), choosing one or two from any team.

Rosters are based on the 2003 NFL season, with some earlier players included as NFL Legends. The soundtrack features original music by turntablist group the X-Ecutioners, plus songs from pre-album releases by other artists.
