Background
John Schappert, Jason Andersen and Steve Chiang, former engineers at Visual Concepts, set up Tiburon in Orlando in 1994; the name comes from the Spanish word for shark, and the studio started with three people. EA took a minority stake in May 1996 on condition that Tiburon develop only for EA, having first hired it to make Madden NFL '96 for the Super NES and Genesis. After EA bought the studio it was renamed EA Tiburon. Besides Madden it has made NCAA Football, NFL Street, NASCAR games, NFL Head Coach and the 2006 Superman Returns game, and took over Tiger Woods PGA Tour from EA Salt Lake with the 2008 edition.
