Early life
Gaudin was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. As a Braves fan, he wrote to Skip Caray for advice on entering sports broadcasting; Caray encouraged him to practice and critique his work. In high school, Gaudin convinced a local radio station to let him broadcast some of his school's baseball games. He graduated from Harrison High School and attended Butler University, earning a communications degree with a broadcasting emphasis, also majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business. He was named a Top 10 Male Student and Most Outstanding Communications Student in his class. During his junior year, he won a nationwide play-by-play competition sponsored by CBS during the 2005 NCAA basketball tournament, which led to an interview at the Final Four with Greg Gumbel.
Career
Gaudin's first post-college job was broadcasting Minor League baseball for the Orem Owlz, an Angels affiliate. After one season, he took a hiatus to help form MediaOne Management in 2007 with Erik Sorenson and Robert Grossman, a firm representing cable news personalities. In fall 2008, he returned to Evansville as the Voice of the Evansville Purple Aces and worked freelance for the local ABC affiliate. He then spent three years as the Voice of the Butler Bulldogs, hired after Butler's 2010 National Championship game loss to Duke; he called their return to the Final Four in 2011.
During this time, the Indianapolis Star called him a rising star, and he began freelance play-by-play for Turner Sports covering collegiate championships. In 2013, Gaudin was hired as the voice of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, chosen from over 150 candidates; his hiring was noted in The New York Times, with an IMG vice president saying his vocal stylings jumped off the page. He called his first game for Georgia Tech on August 31, 2013. While at Tech, he was hired by Westwood One for college football and NCAA basketball tournament broadcasts.
In June 2016, he became the play-by-play announcer for Madden NFL 17 and was signed by Fox Sports, primarily working for Big Ten Network covering football, basketball, and baseball.
