Background
EA said packing it in with Madden let it cut the price and treat it as a bonus for fans, then announced the standalone version two weeks later. Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy replaced Bill Cowher on the cover, and Adam Schefter and Todd McShay provided commentary, McShay only around the draft. The player creates a coach or takes one of the real 2008 head coaches (Bill Belichick is the only one missing) and handles negotiations, signings, trades, staff upgrades bought with skill points, and off-season workouts with college players. It added a play creator, live events from around the league and Game Changers, good or bad events the coach has to deal with, while trades became a bidding system and contracts preset packages.
