Lore & Background
Max is captured by Joe's War Boys, taken to the Citadel and forced to transfuse his blood to the sick War Boy Nux. Joe sends Furiosa in the War Rig to trade with his allies, but she heads off the road with his five wives hidden aboard, and Joe leads his whole army in pursuit. Furiosa is making for the Green Place where she grew up, but the Vuvalini tell her it is the now-uninhabitable swamp the group passed the night before.
Reader's Guide
Max persuades the group to return to the Citadel, which Joe has left undefended. In the battle on the way, Joe is killed and Nux sacrifices himself by wrecking the Rig to block the canyon behind them; at the Citadel the people rejoice at Joe's death, and Max disappears into the crowd.
