The island's narrative significance peaks when survivors from the main island discover it while searching for rescue or answers. They encounter a group of hostile men who are actually former Dharma Initiative members turned mercenaries, led by Ben Linus. The true horror of the location is revealed to be the cell holding the Man in Black, an ancient entity disguised as John Locke's father. This discovery triggers a chain of events that fundamentally alters the power dynamics on the island and leads to the release of the entity.

Reader's Guide

The island is dominated by a central concrete compound surrounded by a perimeter fence topped with razor wire. This main area contains several prefabricated military-style buildings used for barracks and command operations.
