Widmore's Crew

Lore & Background

The group's arrival signals the culmination of the long-running feud between Widmore and Ben Linus. While both men were once candidates for Jacob's protection, their rivalry evolved into a battle for control over the Island's fail-safe mechanism. Widmore's Crew serves as his physical extension, willing to use lethal force to ensure Ben does not activate the bomb that could destabilize the world.

Reader's Guide

Widmore's Crew operates as an extension of Charles Widmore Industries, functioning less like a traditional military unit and more as a high-end corporate security force with lethal capabilities. Their primary ideology centers on absolute loyalty to Widmore himself, viewing his authority as the only legitimate claim over the Island after years of exile. Unlike The Others or Dharma, they possess no spiritual connection to the location; their interest is purely strategic regarding electromagnetic power.

Leadership flows directly from Charles Widmore down to Captain Goodwin, who commands operations aboard the vessel Kahana. While Widmore holds ultimate power, Goodwin executes field tactics during the confrontation with Ben Linus in 2007. Key members include military-grade mercenaries equipped with modern weaponry, alongside Penny Widmore, whose scientific team aids in locating Desmond Hume using specialized equipment. Their conflict is defined by a bitter rivalry with Benjamin Linus.

While both men were former candidates for Jacob's protection, their feud escalated into an arms race involving the Island's electromagnetic properties. They seek to prevent Ben from using the fail-safe mechanism that could destroy the world, positioning themselves as reluctant saviors despite their violent methods and aggressive approach to securing Desmond Hume away from Ben's reach.
