Tour Over Europe 1980

Led Zeppelin's last concert tour, a short, stripped-back European run in June and July 1980.

Tour Over Europe 1980 was the final concert tour by Led Zeppelin, running from 17 June to 7 July 1980. Most of the shows were in West German cities, with single dates in Brussels, Rotterdam, Vienna, Zürich and West Berlin. Peter Grant scheduled the short tour as a compromise, because Robert Plant was reluctant to tour the United States; it was the band's first run of concerts since Knebworth the year before. Rehearsals were held at London's Rainbow Theatre and Victoria Theatre and then at Shepperton Studios.

The band deliberately kept things small, playing modest venues with a reduced stage and a shorter set of about two hours that dropped long pieces such as "No Quarter" and "Moby Dick" and opened with "Train Kept A-Rollin'". The tour had its problems: Page was hit by a firecracker in Vienna, and the Nuremberg show ended after three songs when John Bonham collapsed.

A second Berlin date listed on the poster never happened, so the 7 July show in Berlin was the band's last full concert until 2007. A follow-up American tour was cancelled after Bonham's death.
