Led Zeppelin North American Tour 1975
The band's tenth North American tour, January to March 1975, launched with songs from Physical Graffiti.
Led Zeppelin's tenth tour of North America was played in two legs between 18 January and 27 March 1975, after two warm-up shows in Rotterdam and Brussels. It came almost 18 months after their previous tour, the longest break the band had yet taken, and the start was difficult: Jimmy Page broke a finger in a train door before leaving England and had to adapt his playing, and Robert Plant caught influenza early on, which cost one show and hurt his voice for much of the run. Reviews improved as the band recovered toward the end.
The set introduced songs from Physical Graffiti, including "Kashmir", "In My Time of Dying", "Sick Again" and "Trampled Under Foot", even though the album was only released partway through the tour. The stage show grew larger, with a neon 'Led Zeppelin' backdrop and laser effects, and the band again flew between cities in The Starship. A Boston Garden date was cancelled by the city's mayor after fans damaged the venue.
The tour was followed by shows at London's Earls Court in May 1975. Further American and European dates planned for later that year were called off after Plant was badly hurt in a car accident on the Greek island of Rhodes.
