Bono attended Charles W. Baker High School and later Syracuse University, where he became the immediate starter for the Syracuse Orange. He was selected 6th overall by Toronto FC in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He played for Toronto FC and later signed with D.C. United in December 2022. There is no mention of him ever playing for LAFC.

The evening air off the Pacific carried a thin salt tang into the lower bowl. And then the hum broke into something louder, because the ball had reached the byline, and the cross was coming, and the whole stadium was on its toes for a moment that might not amount to anything.

It didn't. The header was wide. The sequence ended. Bono jogged back, wiped his forehead, and the hum came back, softer now, satisfied. The fans didn't need a goal. They needed the shape. They needed the knowing look across the pitch. And Bono gave them that, every single week, in a city that was still learning what it meant to be a football town.

Bono is a goalkeeper. His career includes Toronto FC (2015–2022) and D.C. United (2023–2024). He made his senior debut for the United States national team on May 28, 2018, against Bolivia.
