Lore & Background
The Home Depot Center opened in 2003 and has been the home of the LA Galaxy ever since. It was also the home of Chivas USA from 2005 until that club's dissolution in 2014. The stadium hosted the SuperClasico rivalry between the Galaxy and Chivas USA. The first El Tráfico match between LAFC and the Galaxy was played at the stadium (then called the StubHub Center) on March 31, 2018, but LAFC remains a visiting side here.
In Their Own Story
The gate opens at 5:47. The sun is still high, painting the empty bowl in amber. A lone groundskeeper walks the touchline, his shadow stretching long across the freshly cut grass. Then the first fans trickle in—two kids in size-fourteen jerseys, a woman with a hand-painted flag that reads 'CARSON TILL I DIE.' The lower bowl fills from the center outward, a slow tide of red. By the time the pre-match drums start, the air in the open-air bowl is thick, warm, and alive. You can smell the cut grass, the hot concrete, the cheap beer from the concession stands three rows back. A kid in the upper tier holds up a phone, recording the moment the team jogs out. The roar hits like a physical wall. The stadium has no roof, so the sky is part of the architecture—today a bruised purple, streaked with the last light. The match hasn't started. It already has.
