Background
It followed the 1975 live album Alive!, Kiss's first gold record and its commercial breakthrough, and it moved away from the raw sound of the band's first three albums. It was certified gold on April 22, 1976 and platinum on November 11, 1976, the first Kiss album to go platinum. Its songs include 'Detroit Rock City', 'Shout It Out Loud', 'God of Thunder' and 'Beth'.
Producer Bob Ezrin co-wrote 'Detroit Rock City', reshaped 'Beth' from Peter Criss's demo and gave 'God of Thunder' to Gene Simmons.
