Magolor

A mysterious alien traveler who seeks the Master Crown's power.

Magolor is an alien who crash-lands on Popstar in a dimension-hopping spaceship called the Lor Starcutter. He asks Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandana Waddle Dee to help recover the ship's five vital pieces and 120 Energy Spheres, offering a trip to his homeworld of Halcandra as a reward. However, after the group defeats the four-headed dragon Landia, Magolor reveals his true motive: to steal the Master Crown from Landia's head and become almighty, intending to make the entire universe bow before him. He wears the crown and transforms into a large monster, forcing Kirby and his friends to chase him through Another Dimension to stop him.

Reader's Guide

Magolor is the primary antagonist of Kirby's Return to Dream Land, though he initially poses as a friendly ally. His goal is to recover the five vital pieces of the Lor Starcutter and 120 Energy Spheres from Popstar and Halcandra, using the heroes to defeat Landia so he can claim the Master Crown. Once he obtains the crown, he transforms into a large monster and must be chased through Another Dimension. In the final battle, he pilots the Lor Starcutter and later becomes a giant monster; players must destroy the Master Crown to defeat him. A non-canon Extra Mode reveals Magolor Soul, suggesting the Master Crown may have been controlling him. In the Switch remake's Epilogue, Magolor is a playable character stripped of his powers. He can levitate for short intervals and produce energy attacks, gaining more abilities through upgrades. Players 2–4 can play as various recolors of Magolor in this mode. Magolor's story emphasizes deception, ambition, and possible redemption, as his defeat leads to his transportation away from Popstar.
