Lore & Background
Adeleine's role in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is tied directly to the game's story. After Dark Matter invades Ripple Star and shatters the sacred crystal, Ribbon flees with one shard but plummets into Pop Star. Kirby agrees to help retrieve the remaining 98 shards across six planets. Along the way, they enlist the help of Adeleine, King Dedede, and Waddle Dee, after each of them stumbles upon a crystal shard and ends up being possessed by Dark Matter. Kirby must battle each of them to free them from Dark Matter's influence. Adeleine is a reinterpretation of a character from Kirby's Dream Land 3, as the game is thematically similar to that title. In the multiplayer mode, up to four players can compete in three minigames, and players can control Adeleine among the four selectable characters.
