The Seven Princesses of Heart

The seven Princesses of Heart are the maidens whose combined power can open the way to Kingdom Hearts, the heart of all worlds; brought together, they can summon the Keyhole leading to it. In the first game Maleficent gathers them with the forces of darkness, recruiting Riku to help, so she can unlock that final Keyhole, and her hunt is one reason the Heartless become common in the realm of light. Kairi is one of the seven: she was cast adrift from Radiant Garden as a child in Xehanort's experiment to locate the key bearer and ended up on the Destiny Islands. In Kingdom Hearts III the Organization targets the princesses as substitutes for the Keyblade wielders while it seeks its thirteenth member.
